New investigation in the "Terter case"? Who will be in the dock?

Baku/17.12.21/Turan: Information appeared in the media about the formation of a special investigation group to re-investigate the so-called "Terter case", as a result of which more than 200 servicemen were killed.

According to the report, employees of other law enforcement agencies were also involved in the investigation team. It was ordered to thoroughly study all the details of the incident, interview all participants in the process and give a complete objective conclusion.

The "Terter case", which caused a huge resonance and public outrage, became a reason for serious criticism from international structures. For a long time, the Azerbaijani authorities tried to keep silent about the incident, but the voices of the victims, their families and human rights activists demanding to punish the guilty and justify the innocent sounded loud.

In June of this year, 24 PACE members came up with an initiative to investigate the situation in Azerbaijan in the context of the "Terter case" and to appoint the speaker of the assembly for this.

By the way, Major General Mubariz Rzayev, Commander of the 3rd Army Corps of the Azerbaijani Army, has been relieved of his post. According to the information provided, Mubariz Rzayev was dismissed in connection with the "Terter case".

How reliable is the information about the re-investigation? What persons will be prosecuted against?

Rasul Jafarov, human rights activist, head of the Baku Human Rights Club, answers these questions in the "Difficult Question" program.

According to him, the Baku Human Rights Club already in the morning sent a letter in this regard to the General Prosecutor's Office in which it expressed its readiness to provide (to the General Prosecutor's Office or a special investigation group) the materials it has collected so far on the "Terter case", as well as help in establishing contacts with the victims in this case citizens.

According to Jafarov, the first investigative action of the special investigation group should be the questioning of the victims, of whom, by the way, there are a lot. “We were approached by over 100 servicemen who were involved in this case, but were not recognized either as victims or even as witnesses. These people can act as witnesses,” said the human rights activist.

He also said that the people who testified against those convicted in the "Terter case" claim that they were forced to incriminate their innocent comrades under torture. –0—
