Porn in a political context

Baku/09.09.21 / Turan:  An issue of expulsion from the party will be considered at a meeting of the Council of the ruling YAP (Yeni Azerbaijan Party) on September 10. What is meant here is the expulsion of the chairman of the Binagadi district organization of the Yeni Azerbaijan Party, Ramiz Geyushov.

Elmaddin Guliyev, head of the public relations department of the YAP, told Fineko/abc.az about the fact. He added that his powers as the chairman of the Binagadi district organization had been suspended at the reporting conference held on June 30 this year. A reason for this was sexual images of Geyushov in social networks.

It should be added that Geyushov claims that the scabrous movie-reels were fabricated to blackmail him. Also, he assures that these persons are acting on the instructions of certain foreign forces.

It should be recognized that this is not for the first time that videos of obscene content appear on social networks. Thus in April, a video was posted on social networks depicting an obscene trick of the chairman of the Khatai regional branch of the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan Party, former deputy Huseynbala Miralamov. At the end of the last month, Ali Hasanov, a former Presidential aide, received menacing messages and "pictures” taken in the toilet and accompanied by erotic video files.

Who posts these images? Who blackmails YAP members? For what purpose these videos are circulated - for discrediting, or echoing the struggle between intra-Party groups?

Political commentator Nasimi Mamedli tried to answer these questions in the program "Difficult Question".

As viewed by the expert, it is difficult to answer these questions unequivocally. It is investigation only to draw conclusion. However, one thing is clear - the private life is inviolable: regardless of a person's identity and his social status, the spreading of video files of this sort should be regarded as a violation of the Law.

However, not so long ago it became known that in Azerbaijan, approx. thousand citizens of the country are monitored, in one form or another, by special services through gadgets (on July 17, the French non-governmental organization Forbidden Stories and 17 media outlets from different countries reported that in Azerbaijan, as well as in a number of other countries, special services are monitoring politicians, political activists, journalists and lawyers through the use of the Pegasus program developed by the Israeli company NSO Group. Citizens' conversations are surveilled and filmed on video.

It has to be kept in mind that Mammadli did not rule out that" wiretapping "and" video-shooting" might also be applied even to high ranked public officials. It is hard to say who is behind this, the state or individual groups inside the government. This is the task of the investigation to ascertain the fact. However, I'm inclined to believe that these videos were sent abroad to blackmail officials from behind, extort money from them or force them to perform "services". However, the probability remains that the war of compromising materials might be the result of internal "showdowns".

Also, the expert emphasized that earlier we had repeatedly witnessed the spreading of video materials concerning opposition camp representatives. It is clear that persons of this sort will not be blackmailed for money or any administrative or economic preferences. The point is that the oppositionists have no resources enough to attain this goal. It is fair to speak about "services" of purely political nature and motivation. For instance, they are able to set a certain "red line" for the opposition: if crossed, compromising materials will surely be made public.--0--
