The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan is obliged to toughly raise the issue of the release of Jamil Babayev
Baku/30.08.21/Turan: On August 25, appeared the information about the detention of an Azerbaijani soldier Jamil Babayev in the city of Agdere, which is under the control of Russian peacekeepers. The body, introducing itself as the National Security Service of the separatist regime, said that "on August 25, Azerbaijani serviceman Jamil Babayev was found and arrested in an apartment on Teryan Street in Agdere." According to the alleged body, "a criminal case has been initiated on illegal border violations, espionage and death threats against minors."
Why can't an Azerbaijani soldier visit Agdere? Security expert Ilham Ismail commented on these and other issues in the "Difficult Question" program.
The expert noted that the concept of "contact line" appeared after the 44-day war. It was reflected in the Statement of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the President of the Russian Federation dated November 10, 2020. “After that, the territory of the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region is controlled by the Russian peacekeeping contingent and the Armenian armed forces. Therefore, not only an Azerbaijani soldier, but even a civilian cannot cross the contact line,” he said.
Ilham Ismail is convinced that Jamil Babayev was not engaged in any intelligence activity, collecting information, as the separatists claim. "It's out of the question. This person, who left the psychiatric department of the Ganja hospital without permission, needs treatment,” he said.
According to the expert, there is one oddity in this whole story - when the Armenian servicemen, crossing the Lachin corridor or the contact line, find themselves on the territory controlled by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, the Russian peacekeepers rush to start negotiations in order to release the violators of the Armenians. But, for some reason, in the case when an Azerbaijani serviceman turned out to be the violator, for some reason the peacekeepers are inactive.
“Our Defense Ministry was obliged to toughly raise the issue of Jamil Babayev’s release, but, unfortunately, the department does not inform the public about the measures taken,” Ilham Ismail said. —0--

In recent developments that highlight the fraught nature of American politics, the Trump administration’s scrutinizing gaze has fallen upon the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), a key player in the global outreach efforts of the U.S. government. This move has stirred a discourse that spans beyond U.S. borders, roping in responses from Azerbaijani pro-government media and eliciting comments from local political figures like Natig Jafarli, chairman of the REAL Party in Azerbaijan.
