Why are the victims of the "Terter case" protesting?
Baku/16.06.22/Turan: Relatives of the arrested in the "Terter case" held a protest in front of the Military Prosecutor's Office. They demanded a fair investigation and punishment of those responsible, as well as the resignation of military prosecutor Khanlar Valiyev. The protesters explained this by the need for an objective investigation.
Valida Ahmedova, the mother of Guliyev Elchin Matlab oglu, who was a victim in the “Terter case” and was acquitted posthumously in April of this year, tells in the “Difficult Question” program about the reasons that prompted the relatives of the defendants in the “Teter case” to hold a protest action.
According to her, most of the people who committed the crime are still in high government positions. Therefore, there is no need to talk about an objective investigation.
“Therefore, we demand the resignation of Khanlar Veliyev and his henchmen. They impede the objective conduct of the re-investigation. Most of the perpetrators are still in high positions. Therefore, there cannot be talk about an objective investigation,” said Valida Ahmedova.
She drew attention to the fact that the Yevlakh District Court sentenced (June 9, 2022 - ed. note) lawyer and activist Ilham Tahmazov (Ilham Aslanoglu), who is engaged in a public investigation of the “Terter case”, to six months in prison, finding him guilty on a trumped-up charge in insult.
“Ilham Aslanoglu is being persecuted for exposing crimes committed by the military against his colleagues in the framework of the “Terter case”, said Ahmedova.
According to Valida Ahmedova, if high-ranking officials are not involved in the investigation, the "Terter crime" will remain unsolved. “They are the main organizers of the crime. They must be held accountable. This is necessary from the point of view of ensuring the rule of law in the country,” she is convinced.—0—
