Why do the Armenians distribute footage of the beating of an Azerbaijani soldier?
Baku/14.04.23/Turan: Armenian telegram channels broadcast video footage of a detained Azerbaijani soldier. The footage shows the soldier being brutally beaten, breaking his face and lips. They insulted him by knocking him to the ground with his hands tied behind his back.
Who is interested in provocations and bloody clashes on the border at a time when peace talks are underway? For what purpose has the Armenian side distributed video footage depicting the scene in which an Azerbaijani soldier is being tortured?
Military expert Uzeyir Jafarov shares his thoughts on this in the program "Difficult Question".
According to him, there is no need to talk about the purposeful distribution of these outrageous video frames. "I do not share the opinion of some of our friends that the Armenian side purposefully distributes these videos with the scene of the beating of an Azerbaijani soldier. In my opinion, if Armenia knew that things would take such a turn that the US and British embassies in Azerbaijan, the International Red Cross and the whole world would condemn Armenia, they would try to prevent these video frames from being drained into the Armenian segment of the Internet," Jafarov said.
In his opinion, these video frames were shot and distributed not by the military or representatives of the special services, but by civilians.
"This speaks in favor of the fact that there was no targeted distribution," he stressed, adding that if these videos had not caused an international outcry, it is possible that Huseyn Akhundov and Akshin Babirov could have been killed or injured incompatible with life.
Uzeyir Jafarov called on the Azerbaijani authorities not to limit themselves to statements, to take all measures to achieve a legal assessment of the actions of the Armenian side.
"Armenia must bear legal and material responsibility for what it has done," the expert said. He also noted that Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan tried to present the appearance of two Azerbaijani Armed Forces soldiers in Armenia as "fleeing from their positions because they were subjected to pressure and humiliation by other colleagues." Then, another fake was spread in Armenia - allegedly these soldiers killed some guard.
"It is obvious that they want to form a negative opinion about the Azerbaijani army in this way," they say, "this is what the Azerbaijani military are doing" and what a terrible fate will befall the Armenians when they find themselves under Azerbaijani jurisdiction," Jafarov explained.
