Why does not a journalist allowed to write about the army?

Baku/03.08.22/Turan: Recently, the Prosecutor General's Office has warned journalists and users of social networks who write about the army or mine explosions in the territories liberated from occupation.

Why  is not it  allowed to write about the negatives in the army? Why, instead of investigating the negative phenomena and deeds of those who commit them,  there is a ban to write about it? The demand not to write about the army increases suspicion, and create conditions for disinformation.

The journalist Sahavet Mammad, who  also has been warned by the prosecutor's office, answers these questions in the "Difficult Question" program.

According to him, he did not understand for which article specifically he was warned.  “They (employees of the Prosecutor General's Office) said that some structure complained about me, but what kind of structure remains a mystery. I can only assume that this is either the Ministry of Defense or the Mobilization Service (Azerbaijan State Service for Mobilization and Conscription - Ed.). Because, my last publications concerned these structures.

The journalist noted that after him, other journalists also  were “invited” to the  Prosecutor General's Office.

“When they say that there is no tension or an emergency situation, and at the same time they call journalists to their place, then all this naturally raises the question: “What's the matter, what is happening? Why were we called?” Mammad said.

According to Mammad, employees of the Prosecutor General's Office  are not happy with what he wrote about the things taking place in the army, about the fact that if the mobilization service would have   regularly call  reservists for retraining, as it should be in reality, then the call of reservists would not cause questions and citizens would not perceive this as preparations for active hostilities.

Sahavet Mammad stated that if his publications contain disclosure of state secrets, inaccurate facts, personal insults, etc., then, in accordance with the procedure established by law, the Prosecutor General's Office should initiate an administrative or criminal case, conduct an investigation and refer it to the court, and not make pressure on journalists.

In his opinion, the summoning of journalists to the Prosecutor General's Office in order to put pressure on them is, in fact, the fulfillment of a political order.

“Instead of calming the society, it only increases tension, leads to the opposite effect. Because it is a sure sign that they are trying to hide something significant from the public, and this only  causes rumors and misinformation,” Sahavet Mammad believes. –0—
