Accounting Chamber reports sent to the Prosecutor General
BAKU/18.02.14/TURAN : The Azerbaijan Accounting Chamber has identified a number of financial irregularities at the Institute of Genetic Reserves of the National Academy of Sciences. The crimes are related to illegal payroll , abuse of power , deliberate overbilling overhaul of premises and so on.
The same pattern was found in the audit of public funds allocated to the self-supporting veterinary software enterprise of the Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture. Added to that is embezzlement of budgetary funds.
At the Board meeting on February 14 the Chamber discussed the audit results and made a decision to send the materials to identify violations to the Prosecutor General and the Parliament of Azerbaijan. This is the third severe decision since the arrival of the new chairman against budgetary thieves.
The Accounting Chamber of Azerbaijan accountable to the country's parliament has been effective since December 7, 2001 as the authority controlling budget spending in Azerbaijan.
Senior officials (members of the Board , which consists of the chairman , his deputy and seven auditors ) are elected every seven years.
The Accounting Chamber of Azerbaijan , as a rule, is limited to general statements about the board meeting , without giving specific figures and data. According to Article 6.0.3 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan " On receiving information " (" Basic Principles of information "), the disclosure of budget revenues and expenditures is the responsibility of government agencies , including the Chamber of Accounts . - 17D-
