Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order approving the "Plan of events in connection with the announcement of 2013 - the Year of ICT in the Republic of Azerbaijan."
As the focal point in the organization of implementation of the Action Plan, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has been identified. According to the document, the Cabinet of Ministers of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is to ensure the development of information and communication technologies in the NAR, their use, and to implement strategies to build e-government.
The Cabinet of Ministers is tasked to resolve issues arising from this Order.
The action plan in conjunction with the announcement in 2013 of the Azerbaijan Republic "Year of information and communication technologies" will involve all government agencies.

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
