Azerbaijan ministry of emergency situations: 62 tons of fuel spilled
On January 3, 2013 the freight train travelling from Baku to Ujar derailed at the railway station Garasu in Hajigabul region, reported the Azerbaijan Ministry of Emergency Situations. During the accident five carriages and two cisterns with gasoline weighing 62 tons turned over.
“Seven carriages derailed and the diesel fuel was spilled on the road causing fire,” reported the Ministry.
The Ministry reported that fire spreading from the cistern with gasoline and diesel fuel to other carriages was prevented. The freight train had a total of 43 carriages.
This is the second similar accident in Hajigabul region during the past year.—0-
