Banks Face Foreign Currency Cash Problem
The fluctuation of the national currency has caused a stir among the population, which has led to increased demand for freely convertible foreign currency. Today, several banks in Baku have faced a deficit of the US dollar.
Turan’s correspondent visited the headquarters of Bank “N” today. After a long waiting time, it became known that there is no foreign currency cash on hand. The bank’s operator said this is due to limited supply of currency. Therefore, it was suggested either to receive a money transfer in the national currency or to apply after the lunch break again. For the same reason, many other customers were also refused.
Note that on August 22 the Central Bank issued a statement which noted that the need of banks for cash and cashless currency is fully guaranteed and they have enough foreign exchange reserves for this purpose. According to the statement, there is no problem with currency exchange. --08B

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less.
