Border guards seized 1.5 million meters of fishing nets from poachers
Fifteen hundred kilometers of fishing nets were found and confiscated in the first half of 2014 from poachers in Azerbaijan.
As the head of the State Border Guard Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elchin Guliyev told the official media, from January to July were found not only networks, but also 293 thousand banned fishing hooks that could injure fish. All the "trophies", according to the instructions, were destroyed, he said.
According to the chief border guard, in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea there are regular regime activities in identifying illegal hunting and the facts of damage to natural and biological resources and strengthening control of the border regime, and implementing appropriate measures in respect of shipping facilities used for illegal fishing. -17D-
