Consumer Prices Fell by 1.7% in July
In July of this year, consumer prices in Azerbaijan declined compared to June by 1.7%, the State Statistics Committee.
According to statistical observations, in July, prices for food and non-food products remained on average at the level it was in June. During the month tariffs for services rendered to the population decreased by 0.7%.
In July compared with June, there was a decrease in prices for beef, fish, butter, many seasonal fruits and vegetables. At the same time the growth was seen in prices for some food products, including wheat flour, chicken, pasta, oatmeal and barley cereals, eggs, chestnuts, lemons, and drinks.

Experts point out that the rate of inflation has long been a tool of political speculation in the hands of the government to be used as evidence of economic stability in the country. Conducted in 2008-2012, alternative CPI calculations show that in reality the rate of inflation is much higher than the government says in the face of SCS. --08D--
