Contracts signed for reconstruction of two main irrigation canals
On November 29, the Joint Directorate of Land Reclamation and Irrigation Facilities under Construction signed two contracts for reconstruction of two main irrigation canals in the low-lying regions of Azerbaijan, which will cost the state budget 33.5 million manats ($19.7 million).
According to the public procurement portal, the contract for the implementation of the first stage of the reconstruction of the Turyanchay right-bank canal https://etender.gov.az/main/competition/detail/298184 based on the results of the request for proposals, was awarded to "Qarabağ-ER" LLC (TIN: 7200005541). The cost of the contract is over 16 million manats. Contract for the implementation of the first stage of the reconstruction of the Turyanchay left bank canal https://etender.gov.az/main/competition/detail/298182 signed with "Muğansutikinti" LLC (INN: 6800007831). 17.5 million manats will be spent on these works. At the same time, both contracts are subject to execution no later than November 1, 2024.
Note that the Turyanchay right-bank (length – 27.1 km) and left-bank (11.9 km) irrigation canals were built in 1956. They provide irrigation water to the farms of the Agdash and Ujar regions. Their designed culvert capacity is 10-10.5 cubic meters per second.
In 2022, the local state design institute compiled feasibility studies for the reconstruction of these channels, which cost about 2 million manats.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan has approved the charter of the "Tourism and Recreation Zones Management and Development Center," a public legal entity under the State Tourism Agency. The decision, made on November 4, is intended to fulfill the requirements outlined in the presidential decree from August 2, 2024.

A new desalination plant to produce drinking water is set to be built in Sumgait, Azerbaijan, as part of a project aimed at meeting increasing water demands in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula. The project was announced on November 5 during a bid-opening ceremony for proposals submitted in a tender for the plant’s development, according to the Turan news agency.
