Freight Transportation Decreases within TRACECA
In the first half of the year 26.3 million tons of cargo was carried via Azerbaijan in the framework of the Eurasian transport corridor (TRACECA), said the State Statistics Committee. This is 1.8 million tons or 6.4% less than in January-June last year.
The largest share was for road transport - 56.3%, the railways carried 30.7% of the transported goods, while the remaining 13% was for sea-going vessels. Approximately 19.5% or 5.1 million tons of cargo was transported on transit.
By July 1, 161.1 million people crossed this corridor.
The freight traffic generated 259 500 000 manats (+7%) and the passenger traffic generated 59.9 million manats (+ 14.4%).
TRACECA crosses Eurasia from Shanghai (China) to Frankfurt (Germany). The route includes Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Romania, and Ukraine. In addition, the parties are Moldova, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Armenia. --17D-

Azerbaijan’s industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs reported a modest 1.1% year-on-year increase in industrial production during 2024, reaching an output valued at 64.1 billion manat. The State Statistics Committee attributed the overall growth to a 0.5% expansion in the oil and gas sector, while non-oil and gas industries surged by 7.3%.
