Gas resources of biggest field in Turkmenistan could be increased
The resources of the biggest gas field in Turkmenistan Galkynysh (Revival) could be increased, local media reported on Thursday. At present the resources of the field are estimated at over 26 trillion cub.m.
Specialists of Turkmengeology company said that the well drilled on the Dolyguyi (Full Well) area, which was drilled right next to Galkynysh, has a production rate of 517,700 cub.m. a second.
The geologists believe that local productive gas-bearing strata are connected with the Southern Yeloten-Osman area, which is the core of Galkynysh field.
Amangeldi Atayev, senior geologist of Turkmengeology, said that the data confirms the suppositions that Dolyguyu area is the continuation of Galkynysh field on the north. This creates preconditions for further correction of evaluation of the resources of the giant field towards their increase.
Initially British Gaffney, Cline & Associates audit company estimated the gas resources of Galkynysh field (previous name Southern Yeloten-Osman) at 14 trillion cub.m. of natural gas. Then British experts increased the maximum evaluation up to 21.2 trillion cub.m. on the basis of new data. Afterwards Southern Yeloten-Osman was united with the adjoining fields Minara (Minaret) and Yashlar (Young), which is believed to be the continuation of Southern Yeloten-Osman.
The new giant gas field was named Galkynysh and its resources totaled over 26 trillion cub.m. of natural gas. The field occupied the second place in the world after Southern Pars (Iran and Qatar) on the gas resources and its commercial operation commenced in September 2013. Gas extracted from Galkynysh is exported to China, reported http://oilru.com.--0--
