International Food Policy Research Institute has published an annual report to the Global Hunger Index (Global Hunger İndex) for 2016.
Every day, about 795 million. People, including children who go to bed hungry, according to the study.
Azerbaijan on the level of hunger among the 118 countries scored 9.8 points (15.7 points in 2008). For comparison, the largest scale, this problem exists in Africa. The first place (i.e. the worst) at 46.1 points occupies the Central African Republic. Another 6 countries are in the same bad state. In more than 40 countries, including Pakistan, Tajikistan, India, North Korea hunger level indicators are also high. The situation in neighboring Georgia and Armenia, in comparison with Azerbaijan, the better. In Armenia, the hunger was only 8.7 points in Georgia - 8.3 points, Russia - 6.8 points, Turkey - less than 5 points.
Hunger Index depends on such factors as chronic hunger, child mortality, underweight children, slowing development (according to age.)
In Azerbaijan, the number of suffering from chronic malnutrition in 2016 amounted to 1.7% of the population, or about 150.000 people. At 3.1% of children under the age of 5 years underweight observed according to growth, at 18% - slowing down the development of age-appropriate. The infant mortality rate was 3.2%.
International Food Policy Research Institute annually specifies the index of hunger. One of the objectives is to deal with this phenomenon in the world and determine Merya for this.
Experts have revealed that countries where hunger index is high in countries affected by natural disasters, civil wars, the lack of economic stability.
International Food Policy Research Institute said that in comparison with 2000, in developing countries the level of hunger in total decreased by 29%. But the purpose of international organizations is to solve this problem before 2030. And for this it is necessary to do more work, the report says. -0-
