Grapholitha Molesta Busck Prevents Export of Azerbaijani Apples to Russia
According to Rosselkhoznadzor, on the border with Dagestan in Russia the export of 18 tons of fresh apples from Azerbaijan was prevented. The "red light" was ignited at the international checkpoint Yarag - Gazmalar by the Dagestan inspectors of this supervisory office of the Russian Federation. The reason is called the presence of the so-called eastern apple worm (Grapholitha molesta Busck) in the fruit, which was revealed by the Plant Quarantine Center.
Recall, about 50 thousand tons of apples was exported from Azerbaijan to Russia last season against the backdrop of anti-western sanctions by Russia, which led to a twofold increase in the cost of this fruit in the local market. --17D-

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less.
