Import of agricultural products can be quoted
In order to increase self-sufficiency in agricultural products, as well as the protection of the internal market Azerbaijan may impose quotas on imports. The proposal was made by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Speaking at a government meeting chaired by President Ilham Aliyev on January 10, the head of this department, Heydar Asadov said that the restrictions could be applied in the form of another regulatory tool like seasonal duties.
The minister believes that due to political factors, some neighboring countries apply to each other sanctions on the import of fruits and vegetables. This in turn puts pressure on the Azerbaijani market. In this regard, the head of the agricultural department called the position of the President of Azerbaijan in joining the World Trade Organization "the wisest position." Azerbaijan restricts the import of different ways of agricultural products from Turkey, which was previously exported to Russia.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, in 2015 the export of agricultural products from Azerbaijan totaled $ 312 million, by 7.2% more than in the previous year. 08D
