In January 2014 oil export via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal increased by 17.8% against January 2013 up to 2,929,000 tons, reported CPC.
CPC is the pipeline system connecting Kazakhstan with the offshore port in Novorossiysk, where oil is loaded into the tanker for its further shipment to the world markets.
The CPC shareholders are Russia with 31% (represented by Transneft with 24% and CPC Company with 7%), Kazakhstan – 20.75% (represented by Kazmunaigas with 19% and Kazakhstan Pipeline Ventures LLC 1.75%), Chevron Caspian Pipeline Consortium Company - 15%, LUKARCO B.V. – 12.5%, Mobil Caspian Pipeline Company - 7,. %, Rosneft-Shell Caspian Ventures Limited – 7.5%, BG Overseas Holding Limited - 2%, Eni International N.A. Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less.
