Light Industry Begins to Decline
Light industry enters a phase of stagnation: there is a trend of slow decline in the production of clothing and textile products industry.
According to the SSC, since the beginning of the year the production of weaving industry enterprises has reached 10.4 million manats. This corresponds to only 30.6% of the total output in January-August 2014. There was produced 741.2 tons of cotton fiber, 71.3% less than in the comparable period in 2014. At the same time enterprises accumulated about 8 thousand tons of finished products in the warehouses by September 1.
Production of cotton yarn declined by a third and amounted to 4.4 thousand tons. During this period, there was produced 171.7 thousand pieces of bed linen, which is 32% less than the same period in 2014.
The State Statistics Committee has received reports on the production of clothes worth a total of 41.6 million manats, which is 28.7% less than in January-August 2014.
For eight months there were officially produced 126.1 thousand pieces of knitted outerwear and 217 thousand pieces of knitted underwear. It is noteworthy that according to the same official data, only the textile enterprises of the group of companies Gilan made at least 100 thousand sets of knitwear in Baku and Sumgayit. ---08D
