Nushiravan Maharramli: "We should license Internet TV"
Azerbaijani authorities began to think about how to translate the local virtual channels to the National Council for Television and Radio (NCTR).
As the chairman of this agency Nushiravan Maharramli told Trend unlicensed (no restrictions and prohibitions) activities of Internet TV are unfair to television channels broadcasting in the VHF and UHF radio waves, as well as cable television.
In his view, broadcasting as a whole must be licensed. If cable TV licenses its operations and pays legal costs for this, it should also apply to the Internet, he said. He explained his position, saying that abuse of the freedom of the Internet is impossible.
He added that there is no regulatory framework for such media, and this makes it impossible to control.
"Anyone anywhere in the world can open Internet TV. How can we see to who and how? We can not make it today because of the lack of such a mechanism. In general, this is not possible in other parts of the world," said the Chairman of the Board. - 17D-
