Pre-holiday Meeting of Deputy Prime Minister with People

Deputy Prime Minister and Executive Secretary of New Azerbaijan Party Ali Ahmadov got familiar with the agricultural fair prices in the Khatai district, the Green Bazaar in the Narimanov district and the store Grandmart, noting the contrast in the prices of goods sold there. Thus, it was found that in contrast to the reasonable prices at the fair, the prices of agricultural goods in the Green Bazaar and the store Grandmart are 3-4 times more expensive, in connection with which the high-ranking official expressed serious concern.

The official told the local media about the need to "make serious conclusions." According to him, given the non-essential gap in the quality of the goods, the big price difference is unacceptable, all the more so on holidays there is a large influx of customers. "In the market of Green Bazaar there are more sellers than buyers, and this is the result of unfair overcharges. So I think, it makes sense to begin serious work to combat artificial rise in price of goods in the bazaars and shops," he said.

He said on holidays and on their eve the prices should be reduced: "Unfortunately, neither sellers, nor wholesalers, nor importing companies comply with trade rules and traditions. I believe that the number of trade fairs should be increased, so that it affects the prices in the markets."

Turan has repeatedly written about the artificially high prices and the enormous difference in the cost of goods at the customs and in the retail network, but officials have never responded. Now, in order to prevent discontent, members of the government use the practice of "meeting with people." Experts believe that in order to achieve real results tariffs on imported goods should be reduced as well as tax charges from merchants and fiscal authorities should be prohibited to conduct random control checks. Otherwise, the end user will continue to face multiple differences in prices at fairs and in retail network. --17D-
