Russia and Azerbaijan Establish Joint Transport Company
Baku hosts presentation of AzRusTrans, Azerbaijani-Russian transport company, which aims to increase the volume of cargo transportation between the two countries, as well as Georgia, Iran and Turkey on rail transport.
On October 10, the sides discussed prospects of developing rail transport services, creating a competitive logistics system and combining the car fleets. The new joint venture will initially transport grain and timber.
According to the Azerbaijani Railway (AzR) estimates, due to the activity of the new transportation company the freight traffic through the corridors Baku-Tbilisi-Kars and North-South can grow two times. The company can carry out transportation of Russian and Kazakh grain to the neighboring countries (Turkey, Georgia and Iran).
The presentation of JSC AzRusTrans was attended by the Chairman of the AzR Board Javid Gurbanov, Director of CJSC Rosagrotrans Yuri Kim and other officials.
