Social Assistance System to Be Improved
Baku / 05.05.18 / Turan: In order to improve the social assistance system and transparency in this area, relevant proposals will be prepared, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection said.
A working group has been set up in the Ministry for this purpose under the order of Minister Sahil Babayev and with a number of tasks set. Among them, there is improvement of the legislative framework, removal of negatives, etc.
Another task facing the working group is the implementation of self-employment of low-income families, reducing their dependence on the social assistance system.
The working group has already held two meetings.
In Azerbaijan, the issuance of targeted social assistance began in 2006. According to official data, in 2016 targeted social assistance was provided to 498.4 thousand people in Azerbaijan. The average monthly amount per person is 35.8 manat.
For the first nine months of 2017, 404.6 thousand people - members of 98.3 thousand low-income families received targeted social assistance in Azerbaijan. The average monthly amount was 36 manat. In comparison with the beginning of 2017, the recipients of targeted social assistance decreased by 27.5%. -0-

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
