State Statistics Committee Publishes Reports, Excluding Devaluation
The State Statistics Committee informs that in January-August, local consumers of goods and services spent 18 billion 463.7 million AZN. In absolute figures growth of 2.2% over the same period last year was recorded, while taking into account the December devaluation of the manat (minus 38% to the US dollar), there is a fall in the solvency of the population.
Nearly half (49.7%) of the retail trade turnover fell on food, beverages and tobacco, 17.5% - on clothing and footwear, 6.6% - on appliances and furniture, 5.7% - on motor fuel, 1.5% - on pharmaceuticals, 0.8% - on computers, ICT equipment and printed materials, and the rest 18.2% - on other non-food goods.
Experts believe the State Statistics Committee methodology for counting is invalid, because double devaluation, as in the case of Azerbaijan, fuels the inflationary processes, resulting in the fact that the poor mostly redirect their expenditure to foods. And the mid layers even sell their "extra" property and "unnecessary" business. --17D-
