Tougher penalties for misrepresentation of statistical reports
Baku/20.06.14/Turban: The State Statistics Committee is unable to collect data from the field fully and in time. The deplorable situation with the provision of the data required for the compilation of statistical observations or state register accounting units has led to the need to toughen penalties for delinquent.
At today's extraordinary session of Milli Majlis deputies approved the amendment to Article 190 of the Code of Administrative Offences. If the current version of the act in violation of rules and data corruption is a penalty in the amount from 35 to 50 manat, after the law came into force on financial sanctions will be in the range 300 - 700 manats.
Time will show if the responsibility of enforcement agencies and the State Statistics Committee and its local branches will increase after that. In Azerbaijan, the methodology of counting statistics and determining the level of growth of socio-economic development lags behind the average world standards - there are only absolute figures (not all positions) and the percentage of the same period last year. The indicator of living is an average one, which does not allow drawing conclusions about the sources of income of all groups. - 17V-

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less. This robust reserve position reflects Azerbaijan's fiscal stability and the government’s strategic economic management.
