Unemployment has fallen below 5 %
Baku/17.02.14/Turan : In 2013, the number of unemployed in Azerbaijan declined on a quarterly basis approximately 1.5-2 thousand people and in the fourth quarter reached 236.6 thousand people. The unemployment rate dropped below 5%.
According to the State Statistics Committee, in the fourth quarter of 2012 in Azerbaijan on the methodology of the International Labor Organization , there were 243.1 thousand unemployed , and the unemployment rate was 5.18 %. Today , this figure has fallen to 4.97 %.
Independent experts , as well as the political opposition do not trust the official figures on unemployment . In this case there is no alternative studies . World Bank, with the labor market analysis uses official statistics .
" I think that the method of calculating the level of employment in Azerbaijan flawed . Excluding self-employed workers the unemployment rate reaches 75 %, " the press service head of the leading opposition party Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan Natig Edilov told Turan.
According to estimates of the State Statistics, at the end of the 4th quarter of 2013 in Azerbaijan were considered busy 4 521.2 thousand people. It is 75.9 thousand people more than in the same period of the previous year . In annual terms, the number of unemployed persons decreased by 6.5 thousand people.
The government refers to busy families with land holdings , whether they use it for its intended purpose or not.
Azerbaijan does not reveal statistics on age , regional and other principles. The only exception is the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic . However, there are not any officially unemployed in this autonomous republic. - 08B-

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
