Decarbonization strategy of Azerbaijan's State Oil Company discussed in Dubai
Achieving net zero emissions by 2050 is one of SOCAR's main goals, SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf stated on December 3 at the event "Decarbonization Strategy and Prospects for the Future of SOCAR", organized in Dubai as part of the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP28. Achieving the goals of “zero emissions" (net Zero) by 2050, as well as reducing flare emissions in the production process, is one of SOCAR's main goals, he believes.
Rovshan Najaf stressed that these steps are being taken both in accordance with corporate social responsibility and for the transformation of SOCAR into an exemplary energy company from the point of view of environmental protection.
During the event, a detailed presentation was made on the work done at SOCAR in the field of environmental protection, ongoing projects, identified goals and further steps to achieve them, strategic goals in the field of green energy in oil and gas operations, decarbonization and energy transition.
The Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Mukhtar Babayev, an honorary guest, spoke in detail about the work on environmental protection and restoration of ecological balance.
