SOCAR has increased urea exports to the EU by 6 times
Baku/27.09.23//Turan: In January-July 2023, the countries of the European Union (EU) imported 85.68 thousand tons of urea from Azerbaijan (an increase of 5.9 times) for 33.114 million euros (an increase of 3.7 times), the monthly report of the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat).
The top five importers of urea in January-July included: Romania - 55,785 thousand tons (3.8 times growth), Italy - 19,440 thousand tons, Greece - 5.5 thousand tons (there were no deliveries a year ago), Slovenia - 4,753 thousand tons (there were no deliveries a year ago) and Poland - 0.18 thousand tons (there were no deliveries a year ago.)
According to statistics, in July 2023, Azerbaijan exported 9.92 thousand tons of these products to the EU (an increase of 74% compared to July 2022) for 2.94 million euros (a decline of 18.9%) and almost all of this volume was delivered to Romania.
According to Eurostat, in 2022, EU countries imported 78,651 thousand tons of carbamide from Azerbaijan (an increase of 31.9% compared to 2021) by 53.784 million euros (an increase of 1.7 times or 74.2%).
SOCAR Carbamide Plant is engaged in the production of mineral fertilizers in Azerbaijan.
SOCAR Carbamide Plant was put into operation on January 16, 2019, in June the company began exporting carbamide. The enterprise includes three production sites: ammonia production; urea production; production of urea granules. For the production of these products, the plant uses domestic natural gas as raw materials. -0-

The European Union (EU) has warned participants at the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP 29) in Baku that any backsliding on the commitments made last year at COP 28 in Dubai regarding the transition away from fossil fuels would be unacceptable. The EU insists that a similar commitment be included in the final decisions of this year’s conference.
