The French company expects the start of gas production from the Absheron field in 2023
Baku/24.02.23//Turan: French “TotalEnergies” confirmed the start of gas production at the Absheron field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea in 2023, hoping to increase production of hydrocarbons this year, including through the launch of this project.
"TotalEnergies” expects an increase in hydrocarbon production by about 2% in 2023 due to the launch of three projects in Oman, Brazil, and Absheron in Azerbaijan," the company's materials say. According to her, the production capacity of the Absheron field will be 40 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day.
In November 2022, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that gas production at the Absheron field in the Caspian Sea is scheduled to begin in 2023.
Joint Absheron Petroleum Operating Company (JOCAP), established by SOCAR Absheron (50%) and TOTAL E&P Absheron (50%), is engaged in the development of the Absheron field. The contract was signed for a period of 30 years. The contract area is 747 sq. km. The Absheron block is located 100 km from Baku at a depth of 600 meters. In 2019, SOCAR and TOTAL completed drilling of the production and appraisal well "ABD-001" with a depth of 7411 meters at the Absheron field. The reserves of the field amount to 350 bcm of gas.
At the first stage, the volume of production will be 1.5 bcm per year. -0-
