Mandatory Health Insurance to Cover Entire Territory of Azerbaijan This Year - Zaur Aliyev
Baku/04.02.21/Turan: This year, mandatory health insurance (MHI) will cover the entire territory of Azerbaijan. At the first stage, this health financing system was applied in 23 cities and regions, Chairman of the Board of the State Agency for Compulsory Health Insurance Zaur Aliyev said at a press conference today.
According to him, in 2020, 1 million 147.8 thousand people used the MHI package of services in 23 regions of the country. They received over 8.3 million medical services at the expense of the state budget. The number of surgical operations in the MHI framework amounted to 35,287. The population of these regions is 2 million 256 thousand people.
The number of drugs covered by state funding in inpatient and outpatient medical enterprises of the State Agency for Health Insurance in 2020 increased from 126 to 334, and medical supplies - from 116 to 296, the head of the Agency noted.
Since 2020, the assessment of the activities of health workers is carried out according to new rules, as a result of which the volume of salaries paid to them (142 million manats) increased by 43.5%.
Recall that since January this year, the MHI has been applied in another 36 cities and regions of the country. In Baku, the MHI will be available from April 1. The collection of funds from the population under the MHI began in January this year. -----08D--
