Baku/24.08.23/Turan: On August 22-23, a strong storm with heavy rains and thunderstorms hit the west of Saudi Arabia. In Mecca, the wind speed was 80 kilometers per hour, the representative of the National Meteorological Center (NCM) Hussein al-Qahtani said on Twitter.
A "red" warning was issued in Mecca and a number of provinces of the Kingdom on August 22 and 23. According to Gulf News, Mecca and Jeddah suffered the most from the elements.
Heavy downpours with thunderstorms hit the holy city, the storm wind hurled objects and people through the streets. A number of districts of the city flooded.
The number of victims is not reported. They are mostly pilgrims who arrived in Mecca for Umrah (a short Hajj). ---0--
