Appeals Court Strips Donald Trump of Presidential Immunity
BFM.RU The District of Columbia Court of Appeals has ruled that former US President Donald Trump does not have immunity from prosecution as part of the investigation into his attempt to overturn the 2020 election in his favor, including the storming of the Capitol by his supporters, CNN reports. The former head of the White House is currently facing four criminal cases.
Trump himself does not agree with the decision and intends to appeal it to the Supreme Court. At the same time, his lawyers argue that such a decision cannot be made against him, since he was in the status of president. This decision is not final. It can be considered in higher courts.
The start of the process has been postponed to March 4. However, the judge may reschedule the hearing for the near future.
