Armenia's first President called for reconciliation with Turkey and Azerbaijan
Baku/16.06.21/Turan: At present, there is no threat of the resumption of war with Azerbaijan, first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan said in an interview with a Public TV channel on June 15.
"There is no threat from Aliyev now. There is peace, there are Russian troops, so no war between Armenia and Azerbaijan is possible. You may not agree, but over time we'll have to come to some kind of agreement both with Aliyev and Turkey. Neighbors cannot be eternal enemies, " he said.
According to him, the eternal enmity with the neighbors threatens the very existence of Armenia. We need peace, good-neighborliness and harmony to resolve the situation. Moreover, the first President added that the future resolution of the Karabakh conflict would not dependent upon on Armenia. It is not Armenia to decide but, perhaps, Russia or the UN, so there will be no other way but reconciliation.
"It'd be a fallacy to expect that any Armenian says that he will solve the Karabakh conflict. There is no such thing, this is an illusion," he said.
Ter-Petrosyan noted that he was not afraid of criticism and preferred to tell the truth he believed in. Addressing the intelligentsia and scientific community, the former President called those misleading the nation as the biggest traitors. -02D-
