DW: Several explosions occurred in Kiev, air defense systems were working intensively in the city, Mayor of the Ukrainian capital Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram on Friday morning, December 29.
After the first reports of explosions, Klitschko clarified that warehouses had caught fire in the Podolsk district of Kiev. Later, Klitschko pointed out that the explosion damaged the building of the Lukyanovskaya metro station. "The station works as a shelter," he added.
At the same time, the state-owned Rossiyskaya Gazeta wrote that the Artyom plant, which produces air-to-air guided missiles and other military equipment, is located near the Lukyanovskaya metro station.
According to media reports, there were at least two waves of explosions in Kiev.
Explosions in Lviv
Some time later, the mayor of Lviv, Andrei Sadovy, wrote about the new sounds of explosions in the city on Telegram. Earlier that morning, he reported that the Lviv region was attacked by more than ten Shahed drones. "We have a fire at a critical infrastructure facility in Lviv. There are no details here," he pointed out then.
Later, Maxim Kozitsky, Chairman of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, wrote: "According to preliminary information, there is a hit in a residential building in Lviv. There are victims." Kozitsky added that a fire had started in one of the lyceums of the city, probably due to the fall of rocket debris.
Explosions in Kharkov and Odessa
On December 29, an air alert was declared throughout Ukraine.
In the morning of this day, the explosions in the city were reported several times by the mayor of Kharkov, Igor Terekhov. First, he informed about the explosions in the Kiev and Kholodnogorsk districts, after which electricity was partially lost in the city. At about 8.00 Moscow time, Terekhov wrote about a new series of explosions.
According to the mayor, as a result of the Russian attack on Kharkiv, one person was killed and eight others were injured.
The explosions were also reported by the authorities of Odessa and Cherkassy on the morning of December 29. According to the head of the Odessa military administration Oleg Kiper, a fire started in a multi-storey building in Odessa after the wreckage of a downed drone fell.
The Ukrainian media also write about a number of explosions in the Dnieper. According to the first information of the Liga net edition, the rocket hit the shopping center.
An air alert was also announced on December 29 in the Khmelnitsky and Sumy regions, as well as in the Kiev-controlled part of Zaporizhia.

Commenting on the consequences of the Russian missile attack on Ukrainian cities on the night of December 29, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky pointed out that Russia had used "almost everything in its arsenal for it: Daggers, S-300, cruise missiles, UAVs." " Strategic bombers launched the X-101/X-505. Approximately 110 missiles were fired, most of them were shot down," the Ukrainian leader wrote on Telegram.
According to him, the Russian attack on Kiev, Lviv, Odessa, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia and other Ukrainian cities affected, among other things, "a maternity hospital, educational institutions, a shopping center, high-rise buildings and private houses, a commercial warehouse, a parking lot."
Zelensky added that there were dead and injured, and expressed condolences to their families.
In turn, the speaker of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuri Ignat, confirmed on the air of the national telethon that on the night of December 29, Russia attacked Ukraine with all types of missiles available to it, except for "Calibers". "We have not seen so many targets on our monitor at the same time," he said.
