Norway always stands next to Ukraine
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with President of the Storting of Norway Masoud Garakhani, who visited our country on a visit. This is reported by the website of the President of Ukraine.
"I am glad to meet you. I am grateful for the support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as for the opportunity to speak in your parliament," the Head of State addressed the interlocutor.
Volodymyr Zelensky also expressed gratitude to the Norwegian society for supporting the people of Ukraine from the first day of their war for their freedom.
In turn, Masoud Garakhani noted that it was an honor for him to visit Ukraine. He stressed that Vladimir Zelensky's speech in the Storting was historic.
"Today my country is celebrating the day when we managed to regain our democracy and independence after the Second World War. Unfortunately, your country is going through aggression and violence again today," the President of the Storting of Norway said.
Masoud Garakhani said that he was deeply struck by the consequences of the Russian occupation, which he saw in Irpen and Bucha in the Kiev region.
"I want to assure you that Norway always stands by Ukraine," he said.
The parties discussed strengthening Norway's support for Ukraine's security. The Head of State thanked Norway for the decision to transfer defense weapons to Ukraine and for its practical implementation.
During the meeting, Vladimir Zelensky and Masoud Garakhani discussed approaches to further strengthening sanctions against Russia. The parties also touched upon the possibility of cooperation in the field of energy security.
The President noted the financial support of Ukraine from Norway and humanitarian assistance, and also invited to take part in the restoration of our country.
