The Moscow branch of the Kiev Orthodox Church severs ties with the Moscow Patriarchate
telegraph.co.uk: The Moscow branch of the Kiev Orthodox Church said on Friday it was severing ties with Russia over its invasion of Ukraine, declaring "full independence" in a historic move against Russia's spiritual authorities.
"We do not agree with the position of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow ... regarding the war," the church said in a statement after the council dedicated to Russia's "aggression" and proclaiming "full independence and autonomy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church."
The Moscow branch of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine has so far officially sworn allegiance to Patriarch Kirill of Russia, who expressed unequivocal support for President Vladimir Putin's offensive in Ukraine.
