Ukrainian forces have been pushed back from the center of Severodonetsk, the military said
cnn.com: Russia has pushed Ukrainian troops away from the center of Severodonetsk, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) reported on Monday morning.
"The enemy, with the support of artillery, conducted assault operations in the city of Severodonetsk, achieved partial success, pushed our units away from the city center, fighting continues," the AFU reported.
Russia has achieved success "thanks to a significant advantage in artillery," Sergei Gaidai, head of the military administration of the Luhansk region, said in Telegram.
Haidey said about 500 civilians, including 40 children, are still sheltering at the city's Azot chemical plant, which is being heavily shelled by "large-caliber enemy artillery," he said.
According to Gaidai, the Ukrainian forces tried to evacuate people. "Azot shelters are not as strong as at the Mariupol Azovstal," he added.
