Baku/14.07.23/Turan: The Memorial Day of Commemoration of Major General of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan Polad Hashimov was held today.
The Chief of Staff of the 3rd Army Corps, General Hashimov, was killed on July 14, 2020 during the fighting between the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and the Armenian Armed Forces on the front line on the section of the state border between the Tovuz district of Azerbaijan and the Tavush region of Armenia. Hashimov is the first and only general of independent Azerbaijan who died directly during the fighting.
He participated in the Karabakh War and the fighting in Karabakh in early April 2016. Hashimov was twice awarded the Order "For Service to the Fatherland" and 12 medals.--0-
