A Russian citizen is charged with preparing of terror in Baku
Baku / 08.07.21 / Turan: On July 7, the Baku Court for Serious Crimes read out at the preliminary investigation the testimony of the Russian citizen, Eduard Dubakov charged with terrorism.
Dubakov stated at the investigation that in view of his Armenian roots (father of Armenian nationality), he got into in the organization of the BOMA in Armenia and how it trained fighters to participate in hostilities against Azerbaijanis in Nagorno-Karabakh.
In 2018, he came to Armenia where he underwent military training and was then sent to Shusha, Khankendi and other regions.
In 2019, he also visited Armenia and the occupied territories.
Under an indictment, on January 14 this year, he arrived in Baku via Turkey to commit an act of terror but was detained by Azerbaijani special services.
A criminal case was initiated against Dubakov under Articles 214-3.1 of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic (terrorism, financing of terrorism), 218.2 (participation in a criminal community (criminal organization) or in an association of organizers, leaders or other representatives of organized groups), 318.2 (illegal crossing of the state border of the Azerbaijan Republic).He faces a sentence of up to 15 years of imprisonment.
It has to be added that two witnesses who were present at Dubakov's arrest, questioned as witnesses, testified that the Russian citizen had a bag with notes in Armenian and Russian and a phone.
Examination of the documents in the court on July 7 revealed that during the check of Dubakov's phone a contact called "Artsakh" was identified with whom the accused was in correspondence. Besides, it follows from the correspondence that Dubakov phoned certain Artem, Samir Mirzoyan and Zaryaryan.
A certificate provided by the Federal Service of Russia confirmed that Eduard Dubakov traveled to Armenia from Russia several times in 2018-2019.
Other documents were also announced to reaffirm Dubakov's visit to the occupied territories.
Dubakov himself denied all the charges.
At a court meeting on June 30 he declared that he had been attracted to cooperation by the Azerbaijani special services in Belarus in 2018 and visited the occupied territories on their instructions.
According to Dubakov, in January 2021 he was summoned to Baku to get a monetary reward and a new instruction but was detained.
The trial will continue on July 14.
Offcers of the consular service of the Russian Embassy were allowed to see Dubakov at the stage of the investigation. Representatives of the diplomatic mission are also monitoring the trial. –06D-

According to the source, participants aim to finalize and sign the concluding documents by that date.
