Agyl Humbatov complains about lack of medical care in colony
Wife of the Party of People's Front of Azerbaijan (PPFA) activist Agyl Humbatov appealed through the media to administration of colony number 2, where her husband is serving his sentence.
According to her, her husband had a tooth extracted unsuccessfully and suffers from pain, but no one responds to his complaints. She is convinced that Agyil is being ‘tortured deliberately’, ‘punishing him for his political activism’.
The Turan Penitentiary Service said that ‘prisoners in need of treatment receive timely qualified medical assistance’.
Recall that Humbatov was detained on 11 August 2021 and sentenced by the Baku Court for Serious Crimes to 10 years of imprisonment under Article 126.1 (Intentional infliction of serious harm to health) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.
Humbatov insists he is innocent, claiming that he did not attack the victim but became the victim of police provocation to punish him for his opposition activities. Human rights organisations recognised Humbatov as a political prisoner.
