Ali Insanov Announced Creation of Law and Justice Party
Baku / 25.11.19 / Turan: The former Minister of Health and a former political prisoner Ali Insanov announced the creation of the Law and Justice Party (LJP) on November 24.
On Sunday, the first meeting of the new party’s organizing committee took place.
“We decided to form an organizing committee of 15 people. By voting, Ali Insanov was unanimously elected as chairman of the organizing committee, and Rashad Abbasly was elected as secretary,” Insanov wrote on his Facebook page.
The organizing committee includes people who previously worked in the diplomatic service, the judiciary, internal affairs agencies, former members of the New Azerbaijan Party, Karabakh war veterans, media representatives and public activists.
In particular, the organizing committee includes the former ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan and Moldova, Isfendiyar Vahabzadeh, the former director of school number 23, Galiba Budagova, the former head of the Masalli district court, Miradalet Talyshkhanov, and others.
Ali Insanov, 73, was one of Heydar Aliyev’s associates and the founders of the New Azerbaijan Party. From 1993 to 2005, he served as head of the Ministry of Health. In October 2005 he was arrested on charges of an attempted coup.
However, subsequently he was sentenced to 11 years in prison on charges of economic crimes.
In August 2016, two months before the end of his sentence, he was charged with drug trafficking, beating a warden and keeping prohibited items in the prison. On these charges, he was sentenced to another 7 years in prison. However, in March 2019, Insanov was pardoned by President Ilham Aliyev. -03B06-
