Ali Kerimli Trial Takes Place with Heightened Security Measures
Baku / 19.11.18 / Turan: A group of oppositionists, including the leader of the Popular Front Party Ali Kerimli, detained on Saturday during their visit to the Alley of Martyrs, were brought to the Sabail district court.
The courthouse is cordoned off by police who have taken increased security measures.
Police and people in civilian clothes pushed the opposition supporters and journalists from the courthouse into the nearby park. However, a group of activists still managed to get into the courthouse.
There is no information about the beginning of the trial.
Administrative cases were instituted against 11 people accused of organizing and participating in an unauthorized procession.
PFPA and the National Council of Democratic Forces rejected these allegations, saying that November 17 is an official holiday - the National Revival Day. A group of activists intended to visit the Alley of Martyrs to lay flowers and pay tribute to the memory of those who gave their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. -16C06--
