Amnesty International Calls for Release of Bayram Mammadov
Baku / 04.04.19 / Turan: The human rights organization Amnesty International protested in connection with the new arrest of the NIDA civil society activist Bayram Mammadov, demanding his immediate release.
The organization called on its supporters to sign an appeal to President Aliyev and Azerbaijan"s Ambassador to the United States Elin Suleymanov.
The appeal calls for an end to torture and ill-treatment of prisoners. Thus, during the April 2 Appeal Court, Bayram Mamedov reported that he was tortured.
Members of his family reported that there were bruises on Bayram"s face. The authorities also did not allow a lawyer to visit him.
Recall that Mammadov was released by a decree of pardon on March 16, but two weeks later he was again arrested for 30 days after criticizing the authorities. -16D-
