Baku / 04.04.19 / Turan: Lawyer Elchin Sadigov finally managed to meet in Binagadi Detention Center with the NIDA activist Bayram Mammadov, who was arrested for 30 days.
According to the lawyer, he was given a meeting only after he applied to the Ombudsman"s office.
The lawyer said that after complaining about torture of Mammadov, he appealed to the Prosecutor General, his First Deputy, the Prosecutor of Baku, the Prosecutor of the Binagadi district and the head of the Interior Ministry.
"Bayram Mammadov wrote testimony about torture and wants to undergo an examination," said the lawyer. So far, the authorities have not commented on Sadigov"s statement.
Journalist Khadija Ismailova published a graphic depiction of Mammadov"s bruises, which he himself painted on paper and passed outside the prison.
The drawing of the human body is accompanied by a description of the traumas and wounds inflicted on him on the head, temple, nose, ear, as well as injuries of the knee and elbows.
* Giyas Ibrahimov and Bayram Mammadov were arrested after writing slogans on a monument to Heydar Aliyev in May 2016. They were sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of drug trafficking on a large scale. On March 16, they were released in accordance with the order for clemency.
