Asker Agasoy

Asker Agasoy, an activist of the Ordubad district branch of the Party of People's Front of Azerbaijan (PPFA), was administratively arrested for 30 days.

This was reported to Turan by Bahlul Muradov, head of the Ordubad branch of the PPFA.

According to him, Agasoy was detained on 16 January and in the evening he phoned to inform his family of his arrest.

Agasoy was accused of ‘disobeying the police’. The activist did not complain of physical pressure.

The PPFA believes Agasoy is being harassed for criticising the authorities on social media. The police could not be reached for comment.

Agasoy became the third PPFA activist to be administratively arrested for 30 days in recent days.

Earlier, Alisahib Kerimov and Ramil Eynaliyev were arrested in Baku.

The PPFA regarded this as a new wave of repression against the Party.
