Apellation Court upholds Intigam Aliyev in custody
Baku Court of Appeal chaired by Amira Bayramova considered the appeal of Intigam Aliyev , the head the Legal Enlightenment Society, who appealed his arrest. According to his lawyer Fariz Namazly, the court dismissed the appeal and upheld the decision of the court of first instance. Intigam Aliyev himself repeated in the court the reasons for his political persecution. According to him, the authorities want to stop sending complaints from Azerbaijan to the European Court of Human Rights. Intigam Aliyev is engaged in this issue, helping people achieve justice in Strasbourg, so he does not expect justice from the Azerbaijani Court.
* Head of the Legal Enlightenment Society, Intigam Aliyev, was arrested on August 8 in connection with the charges against him under the following Articles of the Criminal Code: 213.1 (tax evasion), 308.2 (abuse of power, resulting in serious consequences), and 192.2.2 (illegal entrepreneurship.) of the Criminal Code.
