Arif Yunus received the first transfer of food and medicine
The first time since his arrest on August 4, the political expert Arif Yunus was able to get a transfer of food and medicine. The Department of Homeland Security allowed the family friend Azad Isazadeh to pass Yunusov a parcel.
A day earlier, the President of the National Council Jamil Hasanli and several Council members tried unsuccessfully to deliver food and medicine to the human rights activist Leyla Yunus, which has been contained in the remand prison Kurdakhani since 30 July.
The authorities refuse to receive transfers in the form of food and medicine, claiming that it can only be done by close relatives, although the law says nothing on this.
Hasanly expressed protest against the ban, noting that the transfer of food and medicines to Leyla Yunus will continue.
The Yunusovs were detained in the Baku airport on departure to Paris on 29 April. Subsequently they were charged with treason and violation of financial and tax reporting. -0-
