Baku /23.09.19 / Turan: The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Arlem Desir expressed concern about the detention of the Voice of America correspondent Tapdyg Guliyev (Farhadoglu) during the coverage of a protest rally in Baku.
"I am disturbed by reports of the detention of Azerbaijan"s Voice of America correspondent Tapdyg Guliyev (Farhadoglu) during the coverage of the rally. Tapdyg Farhadoglu was detained on September 23 in the morning while covering a protest rally by a group of women in front of the Serious Crimes Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office.
He was taken to the Railway Transport Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. All the equipment and electronic memory cards were taken from him, and he was deprived of the opportunity to report the detention to his colleagues and a lawyer. Half an hour later, the journalist was released after returning the equipment and memory cards, but was warned that he "should no longer take actions against statehood." -16D06--
