Armenia must ensure free passage through the Zangezur Corridor – I. Aliyev
After the Second Karabakh War, the transport project proposed by Azerbaijan – the Zangezur Corridor – was included in the international agenda, President Ilham Aliyev stated on Tuesday during a meeting on transportation.
"... Today, the Zangezur Corridor is already a widely accepted term globally, and we are taking practical steps to open it," he noted. Commenting on Armenia's initiated project "Crossroad of the World," he made it clear that this idea is not feasible.
"This so-called 'project' is worth nothing without Azerbaijan... If you really want to implement this project, you must first approach Azerbaijan, because without us, it is just a piece of paper. And our conditions are fair, based on international law and the commitments of Armenia itself," said Aliyev.
"There must be comfortable and free passage from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan without any checks or obstacles," he emphasized.
"We have not forgotten and will not forget Zangezur. I say once again, we have no territorial claims against Armenia. However, Armenia must fulfill its obligations by providing free passage from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan," Aliyev concluded.
